BEER: Community Contributions

TL;DR? You can always listen to this article

Note: This is the continuation of the previous article (BEER: Milestones & Funding). If you have trouble with “what is BEER,” go refer to that article.

In this article I will talk about community contribution to BEER development because many hands make light work.

We need 3 resources:

  • time
  • money
  • skill

3 resources, 2 solutions and they will involve every npr enthusiast, you.

Donation campaign:

We have a plan.
Inspiring, fun, motivating, overflowing with the nectar of awesomeness.

Every 2 weeks, we will release a batch of high quality blendfiles made by the best npr artists in the community. In exchange for your donations, you will get these top cream blendfiles. 100% of the donations, minus fees, will go into the BEER development fund which will pay Miguel Pozo and the front end development.

We plan to run this campaign for 4 months. Which means we will have 8 batches of top quality blendfiles for you to purchase. Our aim in the campaign, raising at least US$12000.

What sort of NPR blendfiles? I know you might ask that. They are at least on par with the artworks of the month as seen in the BNPR Shows.

There is more!

You can contribute!

You, the npr creators who have the ability to excite and charm, we want you to send in your best npr blendfiles as contribution to this fundraising campaign. Don’t have the money but have the skills and time, we want you to walk tall among the greats. Someday when you sort your files for backup, backups are important, you find a blendfile you made for this campaign, you go…

“That was fun getting this scene for the BEER campaign. I did my part, what an achievement, damn I’m feeling nostalgic, I am reposting this render to celebrate.”

If you have the chops, please fill this form with your details and the link to your blendfile, we will get you sorted.*

To complete the circle

You, the npr enthusiasts who love to get your hands on and study those npr blendfiles, you are in for waves of awesomeness. Prepare to get your mind blown.

Psst: I have some of the files here, and these are genius. 🧠🌋

We will announce in the social media when these blendfiles will be ready. We will release them in the BNPR Store.

Summary:
A batch of blendfiles every 2 weeks for around 4 months, on par with those shown in the BNPR show. You can donate blendfiles too. Get top quality blendfiles when you donate any amount to the fundraising campaign.

Coding Campaign:

There will be multiple coding sprints to code these:

  1. Shader primitives
These are standalone shaders. They are self contained. This will lower Miguel’s coding burden as well as expand available shaders.
  2. MALT code review
We will only allow code review much later in the process. You will find bugs and propose enhancements.

Since not everyone can do both coding sprints, you will have to fill this form so that we can identify you and what you can do. When the sprints are ready, we will inform you ahead of time.

Summary:
Fill the form so that we know who you are and where you can help.

I, Light BWK is contributing by communicating and organizing this campaign. These are my contributions. You can fill in the things I cannot do. We are certain we can grow BEER to be a 3DCG power house. Let’s focus on our strengths and march forward. Be the change we want to see.

There will be more updates, so stay tuned.

The hype is real.

Fan art warning!!!

We strictly discourage fan art blendfiles. Anything from Ghibli, Disney, Pixar, any game, etc are forbidden.

If your design is based on something by another designer that is not a fan art (original design), and you have their permission to use it in the campaign, we will accept the blendfile.
